RCC82 – Fun in the Sun!

Hey everyone! Welcome back to our Monthly Challenge!  We have really enjoyed all of the entries and NEW FACES around the challenge recently!

We’re on to the fabulously sunny month of June, so what better theme than:

FUN in the SUN!

Grab those sunglasses and show us your “Fun in the Sun” inspired creations!

So what  prize is up for grabs? How about a Ribbon Carousel?!

Each month we are giving away a Ribbon Carousel to one of our randomly chosen challenge participants!

Just a reminder that our Ribbon Carousel Crewmates have divided up into FOUR teams.  Each week you will see fresh projects for this month’s challenge!

There are three rules to be eligible for the prize:

1.  You MUST use ribbon or twine on your creation.

2. Your project must be based on the theme of the month.

3. You must add  a NEW project  to the inlinkz below and link directly back to your project on your blog or online gallery.

So to me, the beginning of summer is all about the flowers, the green grass, the bright sun – you know, the time before it gets so freaky hot!  I used My Favorite Things LJD Sweet Roses along with their InstaFrame Die. I colored the flowers using my copic markers and popped them up with dimensionals.  Finished it off with a button and some twine!

The Lord is my strength….

So I love this sentiment from Unity.  I think it’s just beautiful.  I wanted it to be the focus here and then pair it with some gorgeous paper – and I LOVE this paper from My Mind’s Eye.  I used a few copics to color the birdies (and I know there are not pink birds, but I don’t care!)

Now I must have REALLY loved this image because I accidentally ordered it twice in two different orders from Unity. SO, I decided I’ll give the second away on my blog.  Stay tuned for how you can win that!

First up I have Theresa Momber’s Vogue Vases 2.  I adore flowers.  I adore flowers in vases.  I adore this set.  I actually couldn’t stop making cards with this set.  I’m showing only two today, I’ll save the others for later!  I like paper piecing the vase, but the set comes with outlines and solids of the vase – so you can do it however you like!  Here are the two I am showing today:

Next up, I have more of Melanie Muenchinger’s popular Stately Flowers.  This is the next installment, Stately Flowers 5.  As always, Melanie has really done a fantastic job on this series!  I chose to use my copics on this one and then a simple design for the rest.  When I take the time to use my copics, I like that to be more of the focus on the card.

So I am all moved in to our new place.  It’s always interesting (A LOT OF WORK) to arrange a new crafty space.  I’ll try to take some photos of my new one later this week.  I am a little weirded out by my room right now – I’ve always had my ink on my right side, as I am right handed.  But it just didn’t work in this space so it’s on the left.  I’ll have to get used to that!  Anyway, it felt really good to get in there and made some things!

I have a rather adventurous paper piecing card using Melanie’s Beyond Baskets.  I paired it with Basket Additions 2 – wanted to make a cute birthday card.  And man, that was a LOT of tiny cutting!  But I really like how it turned out!

So after all that fussy cutting, I decided to do something a little more clean and simple.  I love the idea of using non-traditional colors for holiday cards.  Let’s face it – red and green can get pretty boring sometimes!  So I went with pink and turquoise for this one.  Much more me!  This card uses Theresa’s newest set Joyful Holiday.

Something I never have on hand is kid birthday cards.  I love using the 3×3 size for this because they are so easy to tuck into a gift bag or on top of a present.  They don’t take a lot of effort, but it’s still handmade!  Found this ticket paper and knew it would be perfect for Tami Mayberry’s new set Ticket Trio.

Next I have Melanie Muenchinger’s Stately Flowers 4. This is another GORGEOUS set of flowers!  I used Copic markers on mine.  For the red, I used R89, R39 and R29.  For the greed, I used YG 93, YG 97, and YG 99.

Gina K Inspiration Blog Hop -Day 2

Hello!  Today I have two more great sets to share! Whimsical Spring by Theresa Momber and Girl Talk by Tami Mayberry.  As usual, Theresa has illustrated some gorgeous nature images.  And Tami has adorable sentiments to use in her set, the one I chose to use just cracks me up!

For Whimsical Spring, I started coloring some butterflies with my Copics.  Then while flipping through my paper stash, I found this sheet that was just perfect for the sentiment I wanted to use.  I decided to use just one of the butterflies I had colored an pop it up as an accent to the sentiment.  I really like the cute square card – and this on turned out just right!  I curled the edges of the butterfly just a bit to give it dimension – I love the simplicity here!

As soon as I saw Girl Talk, I knew I had to use this sentiment!  It just cracks me up!  I didn’t have any papers that had chocolate on them, but this older Basic Grey pad with cupcakes works for me!

Gina K Inspiration Blog Hop – Day 1

I hope that you were all able to stop by the Release Party at StampTV last night.  It was a fun, chatty time!  Today I have two great stamp sets to share with you.

First up is a new set from illustrator Rupa Shevda: Mehndi Wishes

I chose to go with the henna tattoo look by using some damask paper in a dark brown on cream color scheme.  Then added just a tiny pop of color for an accent.  This is a gorgeous set that can be used with the images colored in or left alone!

Next I have the 3rd edition of Melanie Muenchinger’s Stately Flowers.  Stately Flowers 3 features Mississippi, Montana, Alaska and Louisiana.  Gorgeous flowers ready to be colored!  I used Copic markers on mine.

Gina K Inspiration Blog Hop – Day 2

Hello!  Today I have a few more fabulous new sets to share with you. First up is another of the new Duos.  I love this flower –  it can easily be stamped this way or colored in!  I happened to find this paper that I thought matched the style perfectly.  A little distressing on the edges and that was it!

Friends are Flowers

Next I have something using Theresa Momber’s newest set.  And it is full of FLOWERS!  Just lovely ones too!  I found some sweet paper from Pink Paislee and decided to use that.  I colored this with my Copics.  Not sure what my deal is with the double bows, but it just works here!

Dogwood and Butterfly

Lastly, I have Tami Mayberry‘s newest set.  I chose a super simple card for this one.  I inked the border with an ink pad, then used a brown marker to go over the edging.  I cut it out (carefully!) and that’s it!  I thought the colors may even go for a masculine birthday card….I never have enough of those!
