Lake Reed Hat

My newest crafty endeavor is knitting.  My sister taught me a year ago and I haven’t stopped yet!  One of my favorites so far is this hat.  I’ve made it twice so far.  The pattern is free on Ravelry here:

Lake Reed

I made this one for my niece Carrie.  I purchased a bunch of faux fur pom poms on etsy and the seller threw this hot pink one in for free.  It was a perfect match to some yarn I had, and perfect for Carrie!

More Fun with Washi

Spent a little more time playing around with my washi collection.  I needed to restock some of my generic cards: birthdays, thank yous, etc.  This was the easiest way to do several pretty quickly.  All sentiments are from A Muse Studios.

And be sure to check out my Stamps For Sale – I’m sure you need some of them!!  I recently added several new sets to the list, be sure to look for them!

Fun with Washi

So I have a little bit of a washi tape addiction.  Adam (my youngest) is a terrible enabler.  He loves it as well.  He really enjoys crafting with me and it’s an easy to use item for kids.  I needed a bunch of thank you’s, happy birthday’s, etc to build up my stash a bit so I used a simple design.  It was excellent as it used up 3 things I tend to hoard – buttons, flowers and washi tape!  Here are several of the versions I came up with: (all sentiments from A Muse)

Adam had his own version that he stocked up on.  He said his birthday is coming up and he would need thank you’s to send out.  (He even puts a little tape inside the card for extra design.  He was quite proud of that.)

I have some more we did while playing with washi tape for tomorrow!

Watercoloring

I find watercoloring very therapeutic.   I found these cards in a pile of boxes.  I think I stamped them two moves ago.  For some reason, I started working on them the other day and it was so relaxing.

I believe the images are Penny Black, but I stamped these at least four years ago, so I honestly don’t even know.  I used a myriad of colors with a niji waterbrush on Fabriano cardstock.  Some I finished off with ribbon and some I left alone.  I had also stamped the envelopes as well.

I have actually been crafting more lately so I should have several new things to show this week as well as a new Top Ten Font list.

RCC87!!

Hey there!  Welcome to this month’s challenge, which is going to be so easy, you’ll be able to enter almost ANYTHING you make!

You’d think the sky was falling the way I’ve been running around these past few weeks! I’m assuming y’all are too, so we’re going for an “easy, peasy, let’s get everyone crafting” kinda challenge!  November’s celebrations galore include:

  • Diwali/Deepavali, the Hindu New Year
  • Muharram, the Muslim New Year
  • America’s Veteran’s Day
  • America’s Thanksgiving Day
  • Hanukkah, the Jewish Festival of Lights

Then of course, there are Birthdays, Anniversaries, and even TGIF counts as a celebration!  Next month is Christmas and then New Years, and I’ve even seen Valentine papers and stamps out already! OH MY!  So whatever YOU are celebrating, please share your creation with us!

This month’s theme is…you guessed it…..

Holidays and Celebrations!

So what prize is up for grabs? How about a Ribbon Carousel?!

Each month we are giving away a Ribbon Carousel to one of our randomly chosen challenge participants! Just a reminder that our Ribbon Carousel Crewmates have divided up into FOUR teams. Each week you will see fresh projects for this months challenge!

There are only three (3) rules you must follow to be eligible for the prize:

  1. You MUST use ribbon, twine, thread, washi tape or anything that comes on a spool on your creation
  2. Your project must be based on the theme of the month.
  3. You must add a NEW project to the inlinkz below and link directly back to your project on your blog or online gallery. (Unfortunately, we’ve had participants who would have won the challenge, but they didn’t do a direct link to their blog and I couldn’t find their creation!)

So – since it’s about Thanksgiving, I thought it was a  great time to do some Thank You’s.   Here is a totally fall colored one to go with Thanksgiving.

Happy Birthday!

Just a quick post to share the birthday card I made for Matthew this week.  Manly cards are always a little more difficult for me as they do not lend themselves to flowers and ribbon!  I went with the papers from My Mind’s Eye, sentiment and image from Unity Blossom Stackers, and some washi tape from Michaels.

Eat, Drink & Be Scary

I made up a few more cards using that Halloween washi tape I picked up and here is one of them!  Really simple layout – though I did get out the embossing powder.  Which is a huge deal for me cause hate all that mess and the little grains and such.  It’s all done on a shimmer cardstock just the make it a little more girly.  (image and sentiment from A Muse)

RCC86!

Hey everyone!  We are so excited to be starting a new term with most of our amazing designers returning to amaze you with their gorgeous creations!  This month we’re kicking off the beginning of the holiday seasons here in the United States. That being said, if you’re south of the equator, feel free to submit anything for your entry, but be sure to let us know where you live so you’re not disqualified! Now let’s get to this month’s challenge.

For October, let’s see your….

Fall and Halloween creations!

Adam (my youngest son) and I picked up some cute Halloween washi tape on sale at Michael’s this past week.  So I was fiddling around it and came up with this.  Super easy, super fast card for one of my niece’s!  I like the flag look on cards – though I have a tough time actually working it out.  One of those situations where I am always my own worst critic!  Oh well – I think she will like it!

Adam wanted to make his own card as well – he added a bit of washi tape, but mostly went with some cute spider embellishments he found.

RCC85 – Back to School!

Are you ready for a brand new monthly challenge???

This is the last month with our current DT!!!! So let’s play along and have some fun with them.

Some kiddos have already gone back to school in August, but in September everything is back in full swing! Kids go back to school and mamas get more stamping time!

This month the theme is BACK TO SCHOOL!

So what  prize is up for grabs? How about a Ribbon Carousel?!

So I don’t really have any school themed stamps – mostly because I homeschool my kids right now and don’t really have a use for them.  I do have a lot of teacher friends though!  And truthfully, I would just like them to know I am thinking of them as they return to school this year.  Here is my nod to my teacher friends – I am thinking of all of you!

I haven’t been online or in my stamp space much lately as I had PRK this month.  The upside, I no longer need glasses!  The downside, I still don’t see very well yet and I am so sensitive to light!  I cannot look at my computer for very long at all.   But it all gets a little better every day!

RCC84 – Summertime Fun!

Hi fellow crafters! Are you ready for a brand new monthly challenge???

This month we are looking for some Summertime Fun!

At least the northern hemisphere is in summer mode, although some areas are unseasonably cool right now. We hope our Southern hemisphere friends can play along as well and think happy summer thoughts!

So what  prize is up for grabs? How about a Ribbon Carousel?!

To get a summer feel for my card today I went for BRIGHT!  To me that spells out summer fun.  I chose Peaceful Wildflowers from My Favorite Things.  To get a simple, clean look I inked the stamp up using makers and just layered it with a small black edge.  Then highlighted the bright colors with some washi tape from Michael’s.  Super easy and fun!

Since my youngest son wanted to stamp along with me this evening – he decided to follow the theme as well!  Using some stamps from Paper Smooches, he came up with this card – all by himself!!  (he wanted me to say that I did make the grass for him using a die from MFT.)
