RCC87!!

Hey there!  Welcome to this month’s challenge, which is going to be so easy, you’ll be able to enter almost ANYTHING you make!

You’d think the sky was falling the way I’ve been running around these past few weeks! I’m assuming y’all are too, so we’re going for an “easy, peasy, let’s get everyone crafting” kinda challenge!  November’s celebrations galore include:

  • Diwali/Deepavali, the Hindu New Year
  • Muharram, the Muslim New Year
  • America’s Veteran’s Day
  • America’s Thanksgiving Day
  • Hanukkah, the Jewish Festival of Lights

Then of course, there are Birthdays, Anniversaries, and even TGIF counts as a celebration!  Next month is Christmas and then New Years, and I’ve even seen Valentine papers and stamps out already! OH MY!  So whatever YOU are celebrating, please share your creation with us!

This month’s theme is…you guessed it…..

Holidays and Celebrations!

So what prize is up for grabs? How about a Ribbon Carousel?!

Each month we are giving away a Ribbon Carousel to one of our randomly chosen challenge participants! Just a reminder that our Ribbon Carousel Crewmates have divided up into FOUR teams. Each week you will see fresh projects for this months challenge!

There are only three (3) rules you must follow to be eligible for the prize:

  1. You MUST use ribbon, twine, thread, washi tape or anything that comes on a spool on your creation
  2. Your project must be based on the theme of the month.
  3. You must add a NEW project to the inlinkz below and link directly back to your project on your blog or online gallery. (Unfortunately, we’ve had participants who would have won the challenge, but they didn’t do a direct link to their blog and I couldn’t find their creation!)

So – since it’s about Thanksgiving, I thought it was a  great time to do some Thank You’s.   Here is a totally fall colored one to go with Thanksgiving.

Happy Birthday!

Just a quick post to share the birthday card I made for Matthew this week.  Manly cards are always a little more difficult for me as they do not lend themselves to flowers and ribbon!  I went with the papers from My Mind’s Eye, sentiment and image from Unity Blossom Stackers, and some washi tape from Michaels.

RCC83 – Celebrate!

This month we are looking to celebrate your Heritage, show your country pride and celebrations. In the US the 4th of July is coming up right around the corner, so you may be seeing lots of red, white and blue. Since this is an all month celebration, what other colors are there?

So what  prize is up for grabs? How about a Ribbon Carousel?!

So I didn’t really have any patriotic stamps…..so I kinda got red, white and blue (or red, teal and cream….same thing, right?!?)  Anyway, it works!  I tried a sketch challenge I found on Pinterest, but I don’t really think it worked all that well.  I may have to try it again later.  This one uses My Mind’s Eye papers, Spellbinders Nestabilities, and image from Everything Wonderful by Unity.

Ribbon Carousel – Showers and Flowers

With the start of the new term, our Ribbon Carousel Crewmates have divided up into four teams this term to give our fans and participants more beautiful artwork to be inspired by.  The first Tuesday of each month a new challenge will begin.  Each week, we will show off fabulous projects. It is still a monthly challenge, so the winner will be picked and announced the Monday before the next monthly challenge begins.

This month’s theme is…

Showers and Flowers

I decided to go with a wedding *shower* feel for my card.  I figured we are close to wedding season and surely I’ll need a card for a shower at some point.  Or someone will anyway.  I used a sentiment from Tami Mayberry’s Block Greetings as the focal point.  Then I used a few images and dies from the Unity set Blossom Stackers and the coordinating Blossom Tags and Accents from Spellbinders.  The paper is from Prima’s Fairy Belle collection.  I even broke out some felt for one of the layers.   Of course – it’s finished off with ribbon!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Just a quick post to share my Valentine for Matthew.  We are NOT big on Valentine’s Day – like besides cards and sharing a box of truffles, we don’t do anything for it.  I’d prefer to celebrate days that are special to us as a couple than generic ones.

I did get a few minutes earlier this week to make a card for him though – I had been slacking off on making cards for my own family lately.  But I purchased this stamp from Unity just for this purpose!  I adore gnomes and all that goes with them – this just screamed gnome-i-ness to me! I paired it with some great paper from My Mind’s Eye that I picked up from Ribbon Carousel.

I hope you have a lovely Valentine’s Day with your loved ones!

The Lord is my strength – Win It!

So I really really liked this stamp – so much that I ordered it twice.  Of course I do not need two of the same image – so I am going to give it away!  All you need to do is leave a comment here and you are entered to win.

Here’s another version of the card I posted before with this sentiment from Unity.

And here’s how you can win it!

1. Leave a comment here on this post!!

2. This post closes at 10:00 PM, EST– Tuesday, January 29th.

3. I will use the Random Number Generator to choose a winner!

The Lord is my strength….

So I love this sentiment from Unity.  I think it’s just beautiful.  I wanted it to be the focus here and then pair it with some gorgeous paper – and I LOVE this paper from My Mind’s Eye.  I used a few copics to color the birdies (and I know there are not pink birds, but I don’t care!)

Now I must have REALLY loved this image because I accidentally ordered it twice in two different orders from Unity. SO, I decided I’ll give the second away on my blog.  Stay tuned for how you can win that!

more believe…

My stepmom really liked this card and asked if I could make her a bunch.  So that’s what I’ve been doing lately!  I got them all finished so hopefully I can play with other new stuff tomorrow!  But they do look awfully pretty all splayed out on my table. Now to get them off in the mail….

Poppies?

So I am not really sure what flower this is – a poppy?  It’s funny – I adore flower stamps.  But I am the WORST gardener.  And I have no idea what flowers I am using for images.  I just like them!  So please do not ever depend on me to have correct coloring or anything!  Cause I just totally went with whatever I thought looked good!

Anyway, I was playing with this image for another card I posted earlier and decided that the swirly marker effect I had stamped with it would look cool on a Fabriano card.  I happened to have a box of those just sitting on my shelf.  I haven’t used them in ages, but I do love the simple elegance of an image stamped on them topped off with a bit of ribbon.  They just look classy.  So I used the same colors to marker up this image from Insightful Meadows by Unity and added a little ribbon from May Arts.

Fonts

So I have mentioned many times my super amazing sister, Kimberly Geswein, and her freaky deaky awesome font work.  Her font blog can be found {HERE}, font Facebook {HERE}, downloadable fonts {HERE} and {HERE}.  Well – I have done a few handwriting samples that she has made into fonts.  My regular everyday handwriting is the basis for Never Let Go:

So the other day I was perusing some stamp sets over at Unity and I noticed that some of the script font work on a few sets looked really familiar.  Like really really familiar.  Cause it was MY handwriting font!  How super cool is that?!?  Here are a few of the sets – mine is the script writing….now I didn’t have anything to do with these sets, I just think it’s really cool!

Bitty Regards

Be Brave Branch Out

{…moment by moment}

Anyway – not at all affiliated with Unity or their illustrators – just thought that was pretty cool!
