Cool News and the other two cards…

Some exciting news that I can share with you…..I am going to be a Feature Reporter for Craft Critique! There are a lot of really awesome ladies on board so look forward to some great articles and tips in the coming months!

Also, I cannot take credit for the idea of using the C plate from the Cuttlebug for large acrylic stamps. I asked Julie and she said she thought she read it on AmyR’s blog. So she’s the genius behind that one, I just took pictures!

And the last thing has nothing to do with stamping, but it’s big news in my house! Adam slept in underwear for the first time and they were dry in the morning! WOOHOO!! Cause he’s the youngest and I’m lazy, we had not attempted this yet. So this was the first night and he did AWESOME! He’s been asking to ever since he got his big boy (twin) bed. So we did it!

That’s exciting to me!

Ok, now for the other two cards we made at class Thursday night.

This was a card based one Michelle Johnson sent me. It is way cooler IRL. The flowers and the words are all traced in a glitter pen and it’s really sparkly. Promise! I just couldn’t get the camera to pick that up at all!

Supplies: chatterbox papers; pretty in pink cardstock; stazon; A Muse sentiment; cuttlebug swirls folder; and Sakura clear glitter pen.

And the last one.

Supplies: Perhaps Basic Grey papers; white, saffron, and purely pomegranate cardstock; pink and yellow versamagic dew drop inks; stazon; Fancy Pants Bella Brush acrylic stamps (I got mine at doodlie doo, but it appears they are all out!); dimensionals; A Muse sentiment; and SU ticket corner punch.

Ok, I’ve got one more card to show you, but it’ll have to be after my class. We’re altering those Target $1 frames today!

And the Winners are….

Sorry I think I just forgot this was Friday! I am off a day this week. I have no idea why. Maybe all that ‘when am I gonna get my new catalog’ stress mess up my days. (And yes, I did finally get my catalogs today – and it’s so pretty! When I get my first order ready to go, I can tell you which sets I picked if any of you care!) Plus, I think we stayed at McAlisters (a deli) for 4 hours looking at the new catalog and chatting. It was so much fun! (Several DFW area demos got together to have dinner and page through all the new things!)

Wow! 225 entries for this goody! Thank you for all the sweet comments about my blog. I am really glad that you found several of the tips/tutorials helpful! I try really hard to break them down a lot so they are really easy to follow. I am a visual learner and I know how hard it is for me to follow directions without pictures. And I’ve got a few ideas for some future tutorials too! Now some of the things suggested I won’t be able to do – I don’t have those products (alcohol inks, pearl ex, etc). Maybe some day I will, but I don’t right now.

So I did the random number generator and here are the winners!

Blog Goody #1 goes to: Anouk!

Anouk Says:
Emily, I just love your blog. I visit every day. I have so enjoyed all of your tutorials. I have to say that the paper piercing tutorials were my fav! I guess I would love to see something more on watercoloring. I just can’t seem to get the hang of it. Thanks for such a great blog.

Blog Goody #2 goes to: Betsy!

Betsy Says:
I loved the tips…every single one of them! the tips/tutorials are so clear and easy to follow. I’d love to see something on coloring…with the aquapainter or a blending pen…whatever you use to give shading and ‘dimension’ to your images. This is something I just can’t seem to do yet.

Blog Goody #3 goes to: Patty!

Patty Holschen Says:
My favorite is the piercing with the piercing set. I loved the template with the curves on it.

Congratulations Ladies! Please email me ( with your addresses so I can get those in the mail to you!

Have a lovely weekend! I have those other two cards from class done, but I’ll have to post them in the morning. I am falling asleep sitting here! Night!

Cards from Class…

Okay, here are the class cards – as promised! Actually, this will only be 3 of the 5 we made. Cindy bought 2 of the samples, so I will have to make another up tomorrow and show you those then. So, here’s 3 of the cards from class!

Oh – and to those that came to class for the first time, I really enjoyed having you! It was fun and I hope you come again – it was really good to meet all of you! And Lisa – Thank you so much for the gift, especially the chocolate ribbon!!!!

Okay, here’s the cards!

This is my version of the margarita card so we could make it for class.

Supplies: certainly celery, white and pink passion cardstock; dimensionals; stazon, certainly celery, and pink passion inks; and pink passion grosgrain ribbon.

Ok, I saw Nichole Heady’s blog about using the extra jumbo scalloped heart punch to do these page corners…..I knew I had to have that punch!

Supplies: mellow moss, pale plum, creamy caramel and vanilla cardstock; chocolate chip, creamy caramel, pale plum, and mellow moss inks; cream grosgrain ribbon; dimensionals; sponge; markers; ticket corner punch; garden silhouettes SU stamp set; A Muse sentiment and extra jumbo scalloped heart punch.

And this was another of our cards.  It was a hard one for me – I thought it was kinda plain.  The original didn’t have the cuttlebug embossed background – I added that to make it a little less plain.  It’s hard for me to use white like that.

Supplies: sentiment from A Muse; strawberry from papertreyink’s Green Thumb; real red and white cardstock; velvet ribbon from Michael’s; versamagic dew drop inks from doodlie doo; paper piercer; scotch tape; dimensionals; and white gel pen.

Okay, I’ll get the other two cards up tomorrow!

A quickie post…

Just a quickie post today.  I tell ya, I don’t think I’ve ever procrastinated this much for a class!  I’ve got cardstock to cut and still one card to design!!  I don’t know what’s come over me this week.  Oh yeah…the new catty anticipation has killed all drive to be productive.  **sigh** Some day, I’ll get one.

Anyway, I had a quick story to tell you and then a little card to share.  So I’m not sure if I mentioned that I have suspected that I have a fracture in my left foot/toe.  Well, I happened to be at the Orthopedic clinic the other day for my back (and yes, that appt went well.) and so he x-rayed my foot. He then said he wanted me to see the foot guy cause he doesn’t do feet.  So yesterday I went to see the foot guy.  He doesn’t think the bone is fractured.  This is good!  He thinks it is actually the tendon that runs along that bone that is irritated or whatever.  So it’s a course of steroids to calm it down and two weeks in cushy tennis shoes.  Ok, the steroids I can handle.  But sneakers!!! For two weeks!!  In Texas!!!  Are ya kidding me?

Seriously, that is so against my beliefs, lol!  So NO HEELS (I love heels!) and NO FLIP FLOPS!  That second one is the killer.  I wear flip flops at least 10 mos out of the year down here.  Plus, I can’t stand wearing tennis shoes unless I am doing some physical that requires them.  Yuck.  And it’s funky rainy so I am wearing them with jeans.  Ugh.  I hate that!  So wish me luck and don’t make fun of me if I look dorky with my Asics on with every outfit.

This is a card I made a few days ago and I decided I liked it so much we’re going to make it at stamp camp tonight.  I had to alter it a bit because I didn’t have enough of the A Muse notecards to go around.  I’ll show what we ended up with later tonight.

Supplies: A Muse lime peel band notecard, white, and pixie pink cardstock; stazon, pixie pink, barely banana and certainly celery inks; niji waterbrush; dimensionals; gingham ribbon from walmart; celery ribbon from American Crafts; sentiment and margarita image from A Muse.

Okay, break time over.  Back to cutting cardstock for tonight!  I’ll show you the cards we made later this evening.

Oh My Gosh, y’all!

Sorry, had to do it. I sound totally Texas there don’t I? I have to say….y’all has actually come out of my mouth (I know I type it, but I don’t usually say it) a few times lately. Texas is growing on me.

Anyway, despite the dreary rainy-ness that has been our world lately in Texas……and the complete LACK of a new SU catalog – that the rest of the United States (and even some parts of Canada) BUT the DFW area seems to already have… was awesome! Guess what happened???

I found out I won a drawing! I never win those! I tell ya, this year is turning my luck around! I won blog candy this year and now I won a blog drawing! I’ve never won those kinds of things before!

I didn’t even know I won this one (and I’d even been to her site, I just didn’t read the winners cause it’s never me, lol) until she found me on another thread and told me. I won a $50 gc to ChristinaRenee’s new digiscrappin store! How cool is that?!?! I can’t wait to pick out a few things – it’ll help me build up my stores of digi stuff!

Anyway, that is so so cool! Her store is having a Grand Opening (and I’m sure it’ll have some cool new stuff!) on July 9th. So any of you interested in digiscrapping, check that out!

A page about Mount Vernon

And here’s my 3rd page done in PSE 5.  I think I am really getting the hang of it now!  Kimberly’s friend, Darcy, helped me figure out some stuff today – Thank you Darcy!

I had that one session with Kimberly, but I’ve run across little issues that I need help with.  I need to start writing them down so that when I do get time to chat with her I can remember what I needed to learn how to do.  Anyway, I used several elements on this one, even resized my flowers and used them in two different sizes!  How cool is that?!!?  You can’t do that with real flowers!   I have to say, I love love papercrafting.  But I have never liked paper scrapbooking.  This digistuff……I am liking it!!  So here’s my page (I’ve had it half done for several days!)

6 Months of Blogging! Goodies!

Well, I’ve been promising a goody to celebrate the end of Tips Week – and here it is!

I am also celebrating 6 months of blogging! Wow, I can’t believe how much my site has grown. It started out as a little blogspot site intended to share stuff with my sister, Kimberly, after she moves overseas. And now, well…..130,000+ hits later…’s my own little corner of the web!

So to say Thank You for reading and to celebrate the end of Tips Week, I’ve got 3 goodies I am going to give away! First, I’ll show you the goods, then I’ll tell you how to win!

That’s it! I will draw THREE winners Friday, June 29th! And THANK YOU for reading all my ramblings!

CC120: So Long Cool Caribbean!!

As a farewell to my favorite In Color this year, CC120 uses Cool Caribbean.  I will miss that shade (good thing I have several packages socked away in a cabinet!)  You can check out the challenge and see the samples here.

I made a bunch of little post-it note holders for my challenge item.  Several demos in the DFW area are getting together when we get our new SU catalogs.  We’re going to have dinner and ooooh & ahhhhh over all the new stuff.  I thought it would be great if we had something to make notes on and mark good pages with.  So I made a bunch of these to hand out when we go to dinner!  I’ve got 15 of them made up, so I hope our group isn’t bigger than that!  (If you are coming for sure, let me know!  I’d hate for anyone to get left out!)

Supplies: image and sentiment from A Muse; niji waterbrush; cool caribbean, marigold morning, white and Basic Grey Romany papers; stazon, cool caribbean, pretty in pink, and gable green inks; dimensionals; grosgrain ribbon; and post-it note pads.

So there you go!  That’s the last Color Challenge that will use Cool Caribbean!  You can find a tutorial on post-it note holders in the tutorials section of my blog.  Next up….the blog goodies!

Lasting Impressions Template

I’ve had many many requests for info on where to get this. The place I got it has an online store (it’s where I get my mono multi CHEAP!). So here’s the link. They have free shipping over $25 too.

And they are FAST!

Stamping Space Sunday: chair

Well, it’s still Sunday here for another hour so I can go ahead and share this!  It’s kind of silly, but it is a part of my stamp room.

I got a new chair!  I’ve been using one of our dining room chairs for the past 2 years.  I just never got around to getting one just for my stamp room.  This past week, we went to Ikea and I got one.  They have these plastic rolling chairs for $20.  And they are REALLY comfortable!  They have some back support as well.  I was really surprised at how comfy they were and ya can’t beat that price!  So, I got a rolling chair (and stumbled on some floor mats for them on sale at Office Depot).  I love that I can now roll over to my Costco drawer units and get out my punches and primas.

So there’s my chair all ready to go!  I really really wanted a hot pink chair.  But they were sold out.  So I got this blue/green color.  Best part:  they sell the chair separate from the base.  And it’s only $6 for the chair part.  So I won’t feel too bad if I get a hot pink seat later and switch them.  (They snap onto the base.)

Anyway, that’s my stamping space idea for today.  Make sure you have a comfy chair!
