Cyber Monday

So we all know what Black Friday is (which I discovered through wikipedia means that it is when the retailers start to be ‘in the black’ or make profit during the holiday season), but are you aware that Monday is called Cyber Monday?

I am assuming that means it is the busiest online shopping day.  I’m sure I could look it up on wikipedia to make sure!

Anyway, this is my Public Service Announcement to remind y’all to use your Ebates!  It’s simple, it’s free, and it gets you CASH back on your purchases!  Plus they have a bunch of different coupon codes listed there too.  And in this economy – any money you can save/get back is GOOD!

Here’s the website if you haven’t signed up yet – and you get a bonus when you make your first purchase too!

Ebates Shopping Site – Click here to sign up!

(if they ask who referred, you can say me if you want!

And as a bonus – during the holidays they have different stores each day that double the percentage you get back!  Cool, huh?  So make sure you go through there before you buy online – not all stores are there, but there are a lot – so you can get money back from your purchases!

Easy Monograms – the Perfect Christmas Gift

By now, y’all know how much I love monogrammed cards.  I think a monogrammed gift set of cards is useful, elegant, and personal.  But on the giving side – they are inexpensive, simple and easy to coordinate colors.  So all around a great gift!  Here are some I made last week – these are teacher Christmas gifts, can you believe I am starting already?!?  I sure can’t!  We’ll see if I get any more done before the day I have to give them….honestly I’d be shocked to not be up until 2am working on them the night before!

So here’s what you need to do these….

Monogram stamps – I get mine {HERE}…there are tons of styles and they are simple and easy to use.

12×12 patterned paper – either double sided with coordinating patterns/solids or two sheets that will work together.

some type of ribbon – I prefer 3/4 in satin ribbon myself.

Nestabilities or punches – I prefer the  classic circle nestabilities, but you can use anything for this part.

How I cut the cardstock:

I choose the paper I want for the bottom half of the card and cut a 12 x 3 1/4.  Then cut that into 3 1/4 x 4 in pieces.  This will get you 3 ‘bottoms’ from one strip.  (On the cards I’m showing here, I cut them into 3 x 4 in pieces…but I prefer the bigger ‘bottom’ card.)

For the tip portion of the card I cut a 12 x 2 in strip.  Then cut that into 2 x 4 in pieces.  You’ll get 3 ‘tops’ from one strip.  (Again, on the cards I’m showing here, I cut them into 2 1/4 x 4 in pieces…)

And here’s what they look like…..

supplies: Brayton Complete Font Set; DIY Monogram Stamper Special Occasions font kit; Classic and Petite Circle Nestabilities; white satin ribbon from Michaels; Pure Luxury white cardstock from Gina K Designs; Spring Moss and Aqua Mist palette ink from PTI; Spring Moss and Aqua Mist cardstock from PTI; and patterned paper from PTI.

And then just for a change of pace – and an excuse to use my bracket dies! – here’s another option!

supplies: Brayton Complete Font Set;  block from DIY Monogram Stamper Special Occasions font kit; Baja breeze cardstock and ink; sponge; Pure Luxury white cardstock from Gina K Designs; Label 1 nestability die; white satin ribbon from Michaels; dimensionals; and Baja Breeze patterend paper from SU.

Totally easy!  And you can package them with a ribbon around them or my personal favorite – in a clear card box!

Here are a few others I’ve done in the past:

Lime Green,  Guava set 1; Guava set 2; Damask; Floral; Pink/Brown; and Mixed.

New Products this week!

Ok, I said I’d come back with my new products for this week….and here I am, it just took awhile!  I had technical difficulties to work out as well as some Black Friday shopping to do!  I actually didn’t shop that much…..I mean I was out shopping, but I didn’t buy much.  My little sister took care of that part!  Anyway, here are the new goodies I have for you this week!

First up – an alpha to coordinate with the Soft & Shabby: Damask papers.  This is a grungy chipboard alpha in two colors of damask.

And something to get you ready for the winter weather (not that we get any in Texas….), but they are still a lot of sparkly fun!

Glitter Snowflakes

And lastly, a set of photo masks in 3 sizes – instructions included!

So head over to Two Little Pixels and check them out!

Well – in the spirit of Thanksgiving I just wanted to give thanks for all the blessings I have had this year.  I am thankful for my family most of all.

I am also thankful for those of you who have stuck around during the last few months as my posts have been further and further apart.  Sometimes life just gets in the way, huh?  Anyway, I have a little something for you today – this is for the digi scrappers out there.  I’ve got something else coming soon for the paper crafters – and I promise it’s good!

You see – I’ll be celebrating my 2 year blog-a-versary this weekend.  And when I return home from Thanksgiving vacation, I’ve got some goodies to give away!  I can’t believe I’ve been at this for 2 years now.  What started out as a little place to post my creations for my sister Kimberly to keep up with after she moved to China…..that grew into something so much more.  And here I am 2 years and over 700,000 hits later (Oh My Goodness!!!)!  So I’ve got a few things to give away to y’all….some from me and some from a few other companies.  And it’s GOOD too!  So tune in early next week for that – you won’t want to miss out!

But back to what I have for today.  A little mini-kit because I am thankful….

I hope you all are enjoying Black Friday….I am planning to shop a little with my younger sister.  Fun!  Be sure to stop by Two Little Pixels as we are having a Black Friday sale as well!  25% off for 24 hrs only and that is Aussie time!

I’ll be back in a bit to show you what new goodies I’ve got for this week!

Cute, easy baby gifts!

So I know this doesn’t really have much to do with Thanksgiving, but I do have a reason behind posting this now.  I have a friend that has been coming to my Classes for  – well, forever!  She came to them when my sister Kimberly taught them and she’s come to mine since I took over for Kimberly a few years ago.  My friend has been in the process of adopting a baby for the last few years.  And of course we all ask about it when we get together for class – I have a pretty regular group that comes.  Anyway, I am just so thankful that they are with their baby boy right now.

When I was putting together a baby shower gift for her I thought about stamping on some onesies.  I dug around my stamp room and found all the ones that I thought would work on a baby onesie.  I really wanted to do something related to adoption and I got the idea to stamp a strawberry on it and then stamp the words “hand picked” underneath.  I used my JustRite alphas to spell it out – I think next time I’ll stamp the words first and then the strawberry…but overall I think it turned out pretty cute!

supplies:  DIY Monogram Stamper Special Occasions font kit; Just Rite Small Letter Set; Honey Bee by PTI; Bitty Baby Blessings by PTI; lemon tart, noir black, spring rain, spring moss, dark chocolate and pure poppy palette ink from PTI; heat gun; and gerber onesies.

supplies: Little Dude by Kim Hughes for Cornish Heritage Farms; Green Thumb by PTI; ripe avocado, spring moss, and noir black palette inks; heat gun and gerber onesies.

After stamping them and using the heat gun to heat set the ink, I rolled them up and tied a ribbon around them.

How easy and adorable is that?!?  I think the cuteasaurus is my favorite!  I did learn a few things while doing this though…..

1.  Do NOT overheat your image while heat setting it.  It is possible to scorch the fabric!  If it starts to yellow a bit – you’ve done too much!

2. Do NOT use too light of an ink color.  I used the Spring Rain blue from PTI and it did not show up very well at all.  I had to go over it with a blue copic marker (yes, those can wash too and not come off) to make it show up, but that feathered a bit too much and now it’s just hard to read.

I slipped some cardboard inside the onesie before I stamped just in case the ink bled through.  I used Palette hybrid inks so that they are entirely washable.  And I love that with the alphas from JustRite, you can customize it so easily!  Totally adorable and personalized!

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving – be sure to gorge yourselves on yummy foods!  I’ll be back to post more pretty things later today.  And just a reminder on the coupon codes I shared earlier – they expire soon!

Color Challenge, cards and a peek…

So I’ve got a few things for y’all today.  First up is the Color Challenge.  I chose a fall-ish combo in honor of Thanksgiving this week.  You can find more information on CC194 {HERE}.  I didn’t get a chance to make a card for this color combo yet….I’ve been busy working on something I’ll share tomorrow.  And also several cards my mom ordered – since my blog is her personal store 😉 and we’re going up for Thanksgiving, I was trying to get them all finished before we go.  We’ll see if I get all of them done!

But I have two cards I shared earlier during the Gina K release party this month that I never posted here for you!  So here they are!

First up is a cute little pocket note using Gina’s Funky Christmas set…I love those little cards!

supplies: Funky Christmas by Gina K Designs; real red pocket note by SU; glorious green and pure luxury white cardstock; Copic Ciao Markers; classic rectangle nestabilities; dimensionals; stardust stickles ; and Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

And just to show that you CAN do a one layer card with NO bleed through using Copic Markers – here’s a really quick one I did with that same set – my favorite stamp in that set!  This 120lb Pure Luxury cardstock is the BEST!!

supplies: Funky Christmas by Gina K Designs; 120 lb Pure Luxury Cardstock; Real Red ink; Pure Luxury Holiday Ribbon; Memento Tuxedo Black ink; heat gun; and Copic Ciao Markers.

And a little peek at what else I’ve been working on….

Stuff I Like: Spica Glitter Pens

Ok, let’s try this again!  I have no idea what just happened to the entire review I just wrote up!

Welcome to another Sunday (or Monday) edition of “Stuff I Like”.  You can find all the previous editions {here}.  Today I want to talk about Spica Atyou Glitter Pens by Copic.  They are fun, easy to use, quick drying and sparkly!

Spica atyou Glitter Pens by Copic

I love these!  They are really great for adding just a touch of sparkle to whatever you are working on.  They come in a variety of colors.  I prefer the 12 pack as it comes in a clear *wallet* to keep them contained.  I’m all about containment!  When you write with these, they do have a bit of colored ink as well as glitter.  So you could use them alone or on top of anything you have just stamped or written.  They also dry very quickly.

I prefer these to glitter because I do not like messy things.  I hate having gritty embossing powder or bits of glitter all over after I complete a project.  (Not that you’d know this by looking at my terribly messy stamp room!)  I didn’t bother trying to get a picture of these in use…..while it would show the colors, it’s just too hard to photograph glitter and sparkle!  These are more subtle than actual glitter, but trust me – in person they have a lot of sparkle!  What girl doesn’t like sparkle?!?  Especially sparkle that isn’t messy!

Where to get them:

I got mine at Gina K Designs – I prefer them in the set with the wallet as she sells them because they are less likely to get misplaced that way!

**I aplogize for the lack of description and such with this – I’m just irritated about having to rewrite the entire post!**

New This Week!

Hello!  My buttons are back!  I have no idea what happened, probably just some Mozilla glitch.  And thank you Webmaster, oh great one, for testing it out and making fun of me.  Sisters are priceless….

Not too many new things this week, but here they are!  I have two paper packs that were previously at CRD and one new product….

First up, the two paper packs!
