Laser Tag

Yeah, that’s the title of my post.  The boys and I went to a fun thing yesterday.  The local bowling alley/arcade had a deal where you went from 9am-5pm (well, any time during those hours) and for $22 a person, this is what you got: unlimited bowling, unlimited putt-putt, unlimited laser tag, a hot dog, a drink, and a $10 game card.  So we tried it out!  We never made it to putt-putt, let’s face it – it’s way too hot in the summer here for outdoor mini-golf.  But we did bowl a little, played games, and did a TON of laser tag.  Which was super fun!  I’ve never played before, turns out I am rather awesome!  Anyway, I told the boys we may just have to do that again the last week of summer vacation as an end of summer treat.  I’d way rather do this than go to Six Flags or something outside!

However I did discover that I am too old to run around like that without taking some ibuprofen first!  Oh well, lesson learned!  I am just rather sore today – although I suspect that is from the bowling and skeeball I played.  My Dad and nephew came as well, so we had a good group for playing.  Definitely a ton of fun.  We ended up staying from 10am – 4pm, so I think we got our money’s worth!

Last night Gina K had her release party – which was a lot of fun!  SCS was posting all kinds of crazy – the messages were out of order, it locked up, etc.  But it was still a lot of fun!  I shared a few new cards with the new sets and I will share them here over the next week or so.  But first – I thought I’d show you my new papers available at Gina K Designs.  These coordinate with Theresa Momber’s Timeless Treasures stamp set which you can find {HERE}.

I also made up a little FREE paper pack of some distressed solids that coordinate with the Timeless Treasures pack.  You can find them {HERE}!

I also thought I would share another of the cards I made for this release.   This was another card made using the images from the newest StampTV kit – Signs of Autumn.  I CASE’d this layout from Cat – I loved her card earlier this week!

Gina K Sneak Peek – Tropical Windows!

Today I bring you a sample with the newest *Buy 3 Get 1 FREE* set from Gina K.  This set is really fantastic!  And check this out – I embossed!  I know – it doesn’t happen very often, so enjoy it!  No seriously, it’s a fantastic set that has a lot of options for the two main images.  Today’s sample shows what a little glossy cardstock and some black embossing powder can do for you…..but I’ve got another sample ready to go for the Release Party that shows a whole different look!

Be sure to stop by Gina’s release party at SCS.  She has lots of contests, prizes, and chatter – they are always fast moving and a lot of fun.  You just never know what will get discussed! 😉  You can find the thread for the party {HERE}.

And to start off – I thought I’d show how I did the sponging on this image.  I first stamped the image in versamark on glossy cardstock.  Then I sprinkled black embossing powder on it and heat set it.   I only wanted the sponged color inside the image frame, so I used post-it notes to block off the area outside the frame.  So it looked like this before I sponged:

ginak-5-1-7-09-erg

After placing post-its all the way around the image frame, I sponged both Ruby Red and Real Red inks on the image.  Then I wiped it off with a kleenex and removed the post-its.  Because I printed the Bright Summer Grunge digital paper on glossy brochure/flyer paper from Staples – it had a nice sheen to it, just like the glossy cardstock the image is on.  Voila!

*See that wide stitched grosgrain on the card?  I got that from a craft thing the kids were at – I saw it and snatched a piece for me to use later, lol!*

Gina K Sneak Peek – Timeless Treasures

I am so excited about what I have to share today!  It’s a sneak peek at Theresa Momber’s newest illustrations for Gina K!  And the part I am really excited about – Theresa asked me about making some digital papers to coordinate with her set!  I am honored that she wanted me to work with her images and I am thrilled with how they turned out.  I hope you all like them too!  They will be released along with the new stamp sets later this week.

Gina is also releasing a new color for the Pure Luxury line of cardstocks: Apple Green!  This is a shade in between Kiwi Kiss and Old Olive (for those familiar with SU’s colors).  Jessica was sweet enough to share a photo of the colors next to each other – so here you can see!  (I also used it on my card today!)

So here’s a little more about the set I have to share today.  Theresa’s set is called Timeless Treasures – it has a lovely, antique-y feel to it.  I’m sure any of you who like vintage images will love this one!  Here’s what I came up with using it (and my papers!  Also called Timeless Treasures) today:

Goodbyes….

This has been a week of goodbyes for us….first Matthew and now my sister Kimberly & her family head back to China.  It’s been an emotional week for sure!  I was thinking that to counteract that sadness…..I would do something that would make me happy.  So I am going to start giving away all of my digital products from my designing days.  I’ll post them periodically on my blog – free!  I don’t know when I will have time to go back to designing and I would love for this stuff to get some use.

All that I ask is that if you use it – I’d love you to post a link here so I can see!  It’s so cool to see someone use something you made – so here’s the first freebie!

Essential Blacks: these are a great staple for any digital scrapper!

*DOWNLOAD ESSENTIAL BLACKS HERE*

Please do not share the link – you can refer others here to download it themselves, but do not share the link directly, thank you!

I will leave you with this amazing photo Kimberly took of my family earlier this week….

Enjoy!

SALE!

That caught your eye, right?  Well – I wasn’t kidding, there is a great sale at The Stamp Castle.  All products are 25% off right now – including BRAND NEW Justrite stamps that arrived this month!  So be sure to stop by and see what you might need to pick up.  They have lots more that JustRite products too!  There are ink pads, some Ranger products, cool voice recorders for scrapbooking or altered art, and more!

Now for something I made using some things from The Stamp Castle…….

My stepmom collects things with the word *Believe* on them.  It’s a bit of a personal mantra.  Recently she drove from Texas to Missouri with me just so I’d have company (besides the boys).  She flew home the following morning – that’s a lot of travel for 2 days!  So to thank her for that, I replicated one of my favorite *Believe* signs she has in her kitchen….the Rectangle Blocks and Lowercase Alphas were perfect for this!  Here’s my take on her sign – I’d show you the original, but I have no idea how to get it off my cell phone to show you!

justrite-1-7-09

supplies: Times New Roman lowercase font; Rectangle wooden block; Pollen Dust and Bella Brush by Fancy Pants; basic black and very vanilla cardstock; noir black and vintage cream palette inks; and Heidi Swapp Distresser .

New Stamping Lifestyle!

There is a new issue of Stamping Lifestyle magazine available at Gina K’s StampTV!  And guess what?  It’s going to be smaller, but come out more often!  Awesome!  Also – be sure to check it out and look for a little treat!

You can find it {here}:

Starbucks

So Kimberly and I were *ordering* our Starbucks this morning so her husband could go on a run to pick it up and she happened to go to the Starbucks site.  This is what she found:

starbucks-ad

Yeah, that’s my handwriting font that Kimberly made!  So essentially, I wrote the Starbucks ad – right?!  How cool is that?!?!

You can find all of Kimberly’s fonts {here} – but be sure that you are only using them for personal use for free, you can contact her regarding any commercial usage.

***There is no reason to assume that Starbucks did not pay for this usage – designers usually pay and who knows who they are using the font for.  So no worries there!!***

You can view the the entire ad {here}!

Week of Wishes….

This week is a big week at the Giovanni house.  First off, the 9th was Andy’s birthday.  Andy is my oldest and I really cannot believe that he turned 9 already  – and he’s not far from being taller than me too!  So (a little late) HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANDY!

This photo was taken a few months ago in our  backyard….

And then for the other, a Happy Anniversary to Matthew – 11 years later and still going strong!  We got engaged on 11/11 @ 11:11  and then married on the 11th.  Unfortunately, we won’t be spending today together since he’s in training for the deployment.  But I’ll share a pic of us from last week….
