Gina K Sneak Peek – Day 1

Today I bring you two peeks at new Gina K Designs stamp sets!  One from Tami Mayberry and one from Melanie Muenchinger!  This is also the first release with all the new and fabulous additions to the GKD team!  Be sure to check out all of the Design Team blogs linked at the bottom of this post so you can see all the gorgeous samples!

First up I have Melanie’s newest set Mugs & Kisses!  Mel has such a talent for drawing sets with a main image theme and then every sentiment you could think of to coordinate with it!  Mugs & Kisses is another great example of this!  I chose to do paper piecing with some October Afternoon papers and that lovely Innocent Pink Pure Luxury cardstock!  A simple design, but I left the inside blank so that I can use whatever of the sentiments in this set work when I need to use the card.  That way it’ll work for whatever I need!  Perfect for keeping on hand and stamping the sentiment before I mail it out!

Next up I have a set of little 3×3 cards made with Tami Mayberry’s Block Greetings.  This is such a great set because it can really be used a lot of ways!  I chose to go with a simple Kraft and Black combo that I will either use when I need a little note to tuck in something or perhaps as a set to give as a gift.  I just liked how classy they turned out – and they were really quick to put together!

Be sure to stop by and see the rest of the Gina K Design Team blogs so you can get a peek at more fantastic samples!

New GinaK Designers!

GinaK has just announced a bunch of fabulous NEW Designers!  I am excited to see many new and talented faces behind the scenes at GKD.  You can find out  more about them {HERE}!

I also had to make a sympathy card and wanted try out the Fanciful Tags from Nina Brackett.  I missed this set when it released, but made sure to pick it up right after we got moved!  I love the elegant dies they coordinate with, and these sentiments and frames work perfectly with them!  Nina always has such a touch of elegance to her designs – and this is a perfect example!  I wanted this to be feminine and elegant, yet subdued.  My dear friend back in Texas just lost her Mother this past week.  Since she is a bit of a seamstress on the side, I knew she’d appreciate the Amy Butler papers since they are fabrics as well!  Here’s what I came up with for her:

My older sister asked me to make her a diaper bag tag for her newest daughter, Leah.   She was born just after we left Texas (literally – 2 days after?!)!  Anyway  – before we left she gave me some material that she was getting a diaper bag made in and asked me to match it to the tag.  So here’s what I came up with!  Most of my stuff was put away at the time, so I had to make due with what was available.  I ended up giving her two because I had a piece of scrap laying around that ended up matching perfectly!  It was something I had previously stamped and started to color, then set aside in favor of something different.  I’m sure we all have those lying around!

So here’s the one I actually intended to make for her:

And then both tags and the material she was using for the bag:

I like them both (and I think she did too!) but I was surprised at the second tag and how well Nina Brackett’s label matched the material!  And next week I will have some absolutely NEW things!  Also – keep your eyes open for some Blog Candy at the end of the month!  I’ve not celebrated my Blogaversary in a bit – and it’s coming up.  I figured I ought to do it up this year – since I also passed  1 MILLION hits!!

Ribbon Flowers

Ok – I think this is the last card I have from the two classes I held in Texas before the big move.  And I saved one of my favorite things for last!  Not that I adore the card so much (I mean, I like it – but it’s a card I’ve essentially done before!), but I tried something new to me and I really like the way it came out!

I purchased several different ribbons from Sharon Johnson over at Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.  It’s a store she hosts through her blog, No Time To Stamp.  One of the ribbons I got in a few colors was the 1″ grosgrain with satin edges.  This ribbon is just GORGEOUS!  I immediately wanted to use it on something when I got it in the mail (and her shipping is super fast!  I am in no way affiliated with Sharon – just a fan of the product I purchased!)  I dug around and found a post where Debbie Olsen had sewn along the bottom edge of the ribbon and then cinched it tightly, bringing the two ends together to make a flower.  I thought this would be fairly simple, so I gave it a try!

I am no seamstress by any stretch of the imagination.  When I sew a button, it usually falls off later.  But even I could do this!  The one thing I didn’t count on – how long it would take to do this for an entire class of people, some of whom were making more than one set of cards!  Needless to say that was not a good plan the night before class….oh well, I think they really liked how it turned out though!  Mine turned out a little less scrunched than Debbie’s flower – but I like it both ways!  So here’s the card we made – and the satin edged grosgrain that became a flower.  You can scroll a little way down the Stamp it Simply Ribbon Store page and find the satin edged 1″ grosgrain ribbon.

pretty cool, huh?  I just adhered it to the card using large glue dots and then popped a little button on top of that!  The panel of the card was stamped with Giga Guide Lines from PTI.

Blog Updates

If you haven’t noticed, my blog has been updated.  I’m still working on a few things – but mostly my sister ,(aka webmaster) Kimberly, has done all the work for me!  I have been working on fixing and updating links this past week.  If you happen to notice a broken link – please let me know so I can fix it!  Also, if your blog is linked on the right side and the link is incorrect – please sent me a new link for you!  I’d hate to be sending people to the wrong place!

And for today, I will leave you with a quick card we did at the Texas classes I held before our move.  This is a super fast, simple layout that can be done with any papers or sentiments.  I chose more of the October Afternoon papers – because I love them!

A Gina K Challenge!

I hope you were able to stop by the Gina K party over at StampTV – it was a fantastic night full of some great samples.  And of course contests and PRIZES!  There are always a few challenges posted during the Release Party – and this time I hosted one!

You can find my challenge over at StampTV {HERE}!  There’s still time to stop by and participate!  Here’s my sample of the sketch I designed – using the Basic Grey Jovial 6×6 pad and Gina’s Snow Much Fun stamp set!  I told you I love her snowmen!

Gina K Sneak Peek – Day 3

Hello!  Today I have two more Sneak Peeks from Gina K’s newest release.  Be sure to catch all the other samples from the Design Team tonight – and be sure to join us at the Release Party Thursday night over at StampTV!

First up I have something from Nina Brackett: Heirloom Ornament!  She really outdid herself this month with not one, but TWO sets that both coordinate with the holiday dies from Spellbinders!  This one works beautifully with the ornament dies – again, I don’t have them, but they are simple to trim.  In fact, I just use a 1 1/4 in punch for the circle ornament I used here!  And I adore it with the Cranberry Tart and Smoky Slate cardstock!  Nice rich holiday color combo!

And although you can’t see it here, I used Dazzle Versamark for the clear EP I used on this.  And it has the faintest sparkle to it in person!  I was quite impressed with myself on that one, lol!

I’ve also got something from the newest Buy 3 Get 1 FREE set: Light of the Season! It’s a lovely little holiday set with something for everyone!  I think the candles adorned with holly are just beautiful and I knew I had to watercolor them.  I paired it with some Basic Grey Jovial paper and while I would usually think of Sweet Corn and Fresh Asparagus as a more fall color combo – I think it works here for Christmas as well!

Please check out all the other Design Team member samples tonight!  And be sure to join us for the Release Party over at StampTV on Thursday, 7pm CST!

Gina K Sneak Peek – Day 2

Hello!  Today I have two more Sneak Peeks for you – both from Gina K herself!

First up I have something from Snow Much Fun! I adore Gina’s snowmen – and this set is no exception!   Totally cute little guys with the perfect sentiments to go along with them!  I used the October Afternoon Very Merry paper (mostly cause I love the color combo on it and it was laying out on my table cut and ready to go!).  You might notice the Lipstick Red ……

Next up I have one of my favorite combos – kraft paper and white or cream ink!  I just love it!  I used the new StampTV kit: Winter Wonderland.  I was going to leave it as is – then I decided to dress it up with some pearls.  I’m not sure if I like it now – but am just going with it!  This was a more simple card with this set – but the images and sentiments in this one offer a great range of stamping possibilities!

Please check out all the other Design Team member samples tonight!  And be sure to join us for the Release Party over at StampTV on Thursday – thread link will be posted later this week!

Gina K Sneak Peek – Day 1!

Hello!  It’s been a few months and I am thrilled to be back in the groove with Gina’s releases.  And excellent timing too, because this month is some FABULOUS goodies!  I’ve also realized I am a bit addicted to Lipstick Red Pure Luxury cardstock!  I used on many cards for this week – apparently it’s a really great color!

First up I have something with Melanie Muenchingers newest set, A Year of Borders.  While this isn’t *just* a Christmas set – it was perfect to use with the new Basic Grey 6×6 pad: Jovial!

Next, I have something from Nina Brackett.  This is the first of two sets from Nina this month, Winter Mittens.  This set is adorable AND it coordinates with the new Mitten dies from Spellbinders!  How cool is that?!?!  I don’t have the dies yet – so I just trimmed mine closely.  I paired this with some of October Afternoon’s Very Merry papers.  Perfect with the polka-dotted mittens!

Please check out all the other Design Team member samples tonight!  And be sure to join us for the Release Party over at StampTV on Thursday – thread link will be posted later this week!
