Spring Has Sprung Blog Hop!

The Design Team for Gina K. Designs welcomes you to a fun Spring Has Sprung blog hop. For this hop we will showcase Spring cards or projects with you!!! The DT Members have all used a wide variety of Gina K. Designs stamp sets to inspire you to get inky too! Come play along with the Current Challenges at Stamp TV!!!

If you came from Donna Baker‘s blog, then you’re right where you should be. If not, please go to Stamp TV where you will find a list of all those participating.

I chose to use the newest StampTV Kit, Petals & Wings.  Since it is just full of pretty springtime images, it was perfect!  I went with a simple layout so the flowers could be the focus.  I used some mini rhinestones to accent the flowers.  That’s about it!

Now hop on over to Giovana Smith‘s blog for more Gina K. goodness!!!

Berry Chocolate Smoothie

So I have been doing ‘green’ smoothies for about 2 weeks now.  I’ve talked about them a lot on facebook and figured I would blog the recipes we try and like.

In the first two weeks having them for breakfast and lunch, I have dropped my blood pressure 10 points and lost 8.5 lbs.  Yes, I have them instead of meals.  NO, I am not hungry.  Promise!  And I am a horrible snacker!!

What is a green smoothie? One that contains greens!  Spinach, collard greens, kale, etc.

Where I buy my stuff:

I buy most berries (strawberries, rasberries, blueberries, blends, etc) at Costco in the frozen foods section.

I buy other produce there as well.  Oranges, grapes, etc.  Pineapple I will buy there, cut two up and then freeze them.  Oranges and grapes I have thus far left fresh.  I prefer Cara Cara oranges.

I buy HUGE bags of spinach (2.5 lbs, triple washed) fresh from Costco and then freeze it.

I use a VitaMix for my smoothies.  You can make them in a regular blender, but it may smoke and you may burn out your motor.

With all green smoothies, you may want to lower the amount of greens initially.  I do not really taste them much so I use more.

Berry Chocolate
1 c frozen strawberries
1 c mixed berries (blueberry, blackberry, rasberry)
1 peeled cara cara orange
2 T chia seeds
2 scoops chocolate muscle milk powder
2 c frozen greens (we use collard greens or spinach – bought fresh, then frozen)
1 c water

Gina K Anniversary Challenge

So this is the 3rd Anniversary of StampTV, and there are a ton of challenges over there!  If you have not seen them, you can find them in the Events Section.  I am hosting the one for today, which is – I believe – the last one of the challenges.

I chose Letterpress with either Nestabilities or Cuttlebug folders.  I won’t go into details, because you can find the challenge posted {HERE}.  Hope you can join in!

Here’s the card I made for it:

First up today I have a little square number I did with the Petals & Wings paper pack and the Buy 1 Get 1 FREE set, Great Sayings.  I went for a simple square with the light image in the background.  I love the sentiments in this set, so I really wanted that to be the focus here.

And for the anniversary of StampTV, you get Believe in Yourself FREE with any $35 purchase!   Love this butterfly, so pretty!  I wanted a sparkly swirl under the image, but I didn’t have any of those pre-made ones.  And of course there are no local craft stores here.  So I just made one – I wish I had made it a little bigger, but I was afraid I would mess it up!  Anyway, I just kinda made dots with a pen in a pattern then put the rhinestones on individually….I’m pretty impressed with it!  I think it looks pretty good!

I am so excited to share the new StampTV kit, Petals & Wings!  It is FULL of cute stamps and lots of flowers!!  Of course I chose to make a PINK card with it!  There is a great rectangular background stamp in this kit that was just begging to have flowers stamped on top of it.  And of course lots of ribbon and sparkle too!

Now I also have cards from yesterday’s hop to share as well.   Theresa Momber has yet again created a gorgeous set of wildlife images, Wild About You.  I chose to go with earthy colors and a very simple layout.  The image here is so detailed, you can just stamp it alone!

And lastly I have an adorable set from Rupa Shevda, Blooming With Blessings.  I was dying to use a little liquid applique on the bunny’s puffy tail.  This was paper pieced and then I used the liquid applique to puff his little tail!

Gina K Inspiration Blog Hop – Day 1!

The Design Team for Gina K. My first card for today will be using Melanie Muenchinger‘s newest set, Wild Flowers.  Y’all know how I love my flower stamps!  I adore the sentiments in this set and I really wanted to do something CAS to show them off.  When I first saw this set, I knew I wanted to try stamping it in white – so here’s my CAS card with white flowers!

Next up I have something using one of my favorite sets from this release, Masculine Tags by Tami Mayberry.  I am not the best at making manly cards (notice my above comment about loving flower stamps….) so I was delighted to see a good ‘manly’ set.  And, best of all, it is not about fish, nature, golf, etc.  My husband doesn’t really do any of those things, so I was glad to have a ‘manly’ set to use for him!  I dug up so older Cosmo Cricket papers (I think that is who these are, they are pretty old!) and picked out some manlier colors.  I do not have the Spellbinders dies for these yet, so I just cut it out using my smaller paper scissors.  A bit of creative layering using various dies and that’s about it!
