Or one of many other gorgeous prizes? I was contacted a few weeks ago by Joanne Bassile. She asked me if I would be willing to donate a card to help raise money for Breast Cancer Research. I jumped at the chance and asked if I could make a tin filled with other goodies. My husband lost his mother to Breast Cancer almost 20 years ago - this is a cause close to our hearts. Joanne’s friend, Sarah, is walking in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in May in memory of her mother. Joanne is collecting donations from stampers, distributers, etc and will be raffling them off. You can get “tickets” for the raffle by donating for the Avon walk (in the comments section just say stamping contest). Each dollar you donate earns you a ticket for the raffle. You win twice!!! You are donating to a wonderful cause and getting a chance to win some fabulous prizes! So please check out Joanne’s site regarding the raffle.
Here is what I made to send to Joanne for the raffle. I tried to stay with the pink theme and keep everything in those colors. I chose two pieces of Fancy Pants paper and pretty much went until they were gone! This got me a lunch tin, a large clothes pin , a card and a post-it note holder.
This is the card I made for the tin. I used the Fancy Pants Key Lime Pie papers. (And of course I only got these sheets and now I need more!) I also used the Fancy Pants Bella Brush (sentiment) and Pollen Dust (flourish) stamps inked in black stazon. The black layer under the main image has a row of piercing along the bottom but it didn’t show up in the photograph. I taped little loops of ribbon along the side of the main image. The scalloped black strip was made using my corner rounder with the guard off. I put a strip of the other fancy pants paper down the middle of the scalloped strip. The main image sits up on dimensionals.
This is a clothespin from Michaels. It measures almost 6 inches tall. I had a great time covering it, lol! Those sides were hard! I used mod podge to adhere the paper, then I sanded the edges a bit. I sprayed sealant over the paper to cover it a bit.
This is a post-it note holder that I made to match the card. I used the same Fancy Pants paper along with basic black and pretty in pink. The images are the same as the ones listed above. Also stamped in black stazon. I used the mega oval and the giga scalloped oval. It sits on dimensionals over black grosgrain ribbon. There is a tutorial on how to make these here.
The last thing was the tin. (Although I actually made this first!) This was the part where I got stuck because I didn’t have the right shade of pink for the lid. I tried making it with white and red, but it just wasn’t happening. Good thing Recollections is pretty close! I used the Fancy Pants papers around the tin. (There is a tutorial on how I do these here!) I used Heidi Swapp paint (and a bit of Making Memories as well!) on the lid. The primas on the lid and the front were from a tube style (a shorter, wider tube than the daisy tubes) container I got at a store in Fort Worth. They don’t have a name on them. I adhered the ribbon with sticky strip and the primas with glue dots. I used liquid pearls in the center of the flowers. More grosgrain on the handle finished the tin off!
Anyway, I hope you all check out Joanne’s site, there are many great prizes to be won - and what a good cause to support. I hope she likes what I came up with! Here are some of the other contributors:
Taylor VanBruggen - a pink card!
Nichole Heady - the newest Paper Trey set that won’t be released until May 15th!
Sarah D - a SU set of your choice up to $25!
One Mel’s Bracelet
Beate Johns - a book made with her Bind-It-All!
and much more!
